100 Ruckin’ Miles Challenge

Holy moly mackeroly!

In March, we killed our upper bodies by repeating the infamous “burpee” 5,000 freakin’ times. This month, prepare to test your lower-half.

The Challenge: Run 100 Ruckin’ Miles.

Are you serious? Yes, well, I don’t know. It’s worth a try. I think a lot of you probably run close to or more than 100 miles each month already. Me? I probably run closer to 50 or less per month, so this will no doubt be an incredible task. Here’s a few guidelines to participating in the Challenge:

  1. How: You may accrue miles by running and/or walking. Wheel-chairing is totally awesome as well for anyone who is disabled.
  2. Limits: Borrowing from GORUCK Challenge, we’ll need to set some parameters by weight as follows: 150 pounds or over, a minimum of two bricks or ten pounds must be carried in each run/walk; less than 150 pounds: a minimum of one brick or five pounds must be carried in each run/walk. Note: GRC requires 6 bricks and 5 bricks respectively.
  3. Accountability: be sure to check-in with your progress throughout the month.
  4. Time: You have until April 30, 2012 at 11:59 pm to complete 100 ruckin’ miles.

What you win

Hmmm…thinking…actually, I haven’t decided yet, but I think I’ll leave that up to you. I could definitely hook you up with a sweet badge so you can brag to your social media friendlies. Maybe a sticker is in order. If you’re looking for a t-shirt or a patch for your GORUCK, let me know, we’ll work something out. I suppose I could always buy someone a Starbucks coffee again! Bottom line, what you will DEFINITELY get from this challenge is the opportunity to FAIL. How’s that for motivation?

    I just have one question though, us Australians we use a numerical base most widely used by modern civilizations what does 150 pounds mean in kilos….

    This will be Epic!

      150lbs = 68 kg according to my iPhone!

      Re: GORUCK, funny you should ask! I just finished a meeting with Sophie of GRC HQ and she told me they are looking to offer a GRC down under in the near future. You’re definitely on their radar, so keep checking the GRC site.

      PS: The US measuring system is based on the human body, which means at one point all humans (or at least all Americans) were exactly the same size! Unfortunately, we’ve grown! 🙂
