So, I was in the gym today working on my mud run training (check out my training log here), which included a set of towel pull-ups for grip strength to end my workout. One of the trainers spotted me working on my towel pull-ups and said he wanted me to try something. He threw these Fat Gripz on the bar and told me to try another set.
Wow! These things are great!
They really worked my grip, as the width of the pads force you to reach your fingers and thumb as far around the bar as possible. They are wide enough to provide a solid challenge fit for mud run maniacs and do not come with the wear and tear that sliding down a towel can cause to your palms. I have to say, these things are really awesome and easily adapt to any pull-up bar and most standard dumbbells and barbells, which means you can strengthen your grip at the same time you strengthen the rest of your body. If you come across these in your gym or buy a pair to use, be sure to put the slot side facing down, so the grips don’t slip off the pull-up bar.
From the FatGripz.com site:
- The military-grade hardened compound in Fat Gripz doesn’t compress when you hold them. It doesn’t matter if you’re curling 60 lb or deadlifting 500 lb. Fat Gripz won’t compress – so you’re always getting effective thick bar training.
- They have a vice-like grip on the bar. There’s no movement, there’s no give, there’s no slippage – so you don’t need to worry about the towel slipping and dropping the weight. You can just focus on lifting the weight.
- FatGripz are quick to put on and take off your bars. There’s no hassle and nothing to tape in place. Just stick them on the bar and lift.
Where to buy.
Head right to the source at FatGripz.com. If you’re interested in picking up a pair and you can try them risk-free for 60 days and if you don’t mind sending me some link love, purchase for $39 through one of the links in this article. I’ll earn a modest commission and you’ll gain the gorilla grip you’ve always dreamed! Not a bad trade-off, eh? Although, before you rush to buy these all-purpose grip pads, you might want to check-in with a trainer at your gym and see if they have a pair they could lend you during your workout.
Thanks in advance and feel free to shoot over some comments/questions on the Fat Gripz.
